Subdivide equals Separate

Speaking of documentaries, there is a new one that I can hardly wait to see. Below is a link to its site as well as some verbage I copied over. There is a blog on the site with some great and thought-provoking comments by Kunstler and several others. I highly recommend clicking over.

http://www.subdivided.net/

"Subdivided is a documentary film about life in contemporary suburbia: a personal study of isolation and the struggle to find and maintain community in an era of careless development, the uninspired design of the modern subdivision, urban sprawl, and the invasion of the McMansion.

American life is more divisive than ever, and poorly designed neighborhoods further encourage isolation and separation. With no sense of place or belonging, is this the new American Dream?

The film is written and directed by Dean Terry and features interviews with Andres Duany, James Howard Kunstler and Robert Putnam, with aerial photos by Jim Wark."

I'm looking forward to seeing Subdivided as well. My only hope is that the new urbanist don't come across as elite or talking down to the people that "ended-up" in suburbia. Most people don't know how inconvient their suburban life has become. I think more than anything it is simply a lack of historical reference.
